spn_fridayfive ramblings
Actually, it's a double spn_fridayfive's since school pretty much owns me again. On better terms, I might finish a semester earlier than originally planned. Perhaps. Also, it's a little scary to have a substitute prof turn out to be the author of at least 3 books sitting in my book shelf. I felt like I was a little girl again looking up at the grown ups with those big hungry eyes LOL

!!Spoilers up to and including Simon Said behind the cuts!!

The spn_fridayfive Week 2:

1. Did you really start watching for the plot?

It all started with me reading the synopsis of the show somewhere on the net without knowing any names of the writers or cast that was to be involved. I was still mourning over The X-Files and thought this might get me my weekly scare. So, I watched the Pilot and enjoyed it very much. Quite frankly though, it was the mixture of the plot AND the hot cast that good me hooked for good.

2. If the show focused on two sisters instead of two brothers, would you still watch it?

Probably not, it would need to be really smartly done to get me hooked because I have enough of Buffy & co. for a while. Apart from the supernatural aspect, it’s the fact that the show explores brotherly love. As a girl I’m just a little more interested in following two guys struggle with their family issues and destiny.

3. In what other ways do you think the demon can be killed?

Beheading, perhaps? But then it didn’t stay materialized long enough to catch a bullet and for it wouldn’t put its head under a guillotine willingly, let’s just scratch that. Maybe it’s possible to trap it the good old Ghostbuster kind of way. I know that especially Asian lore speaks of ways of trapping spirits in wooden boxes or limestone and such.

4. How well do you think Kripke manages to balance out the scary/action/angst/humor in this series? And what do you think of how he manages to get the viewers to see things from the other perspective?

So far, I'm enjoying the show for all the above elements, so I guess the whole writing team did good. The show's veering in the direction of becoming more angst-heavy it seems. On the one hand, my fannish heart craves for that obviously but that development also takes away a lot from the horror aspect. I miss being scared shitless lately o_O
Nevertheless, I adore how they bring so much depth to the characters without really putting it into words all the time.

5. Who is your favourite guest star so far? And why?

Can I just fuse wee!Sam, Missouri and the Nerds from Hell House into one psychic, funny and tough guest star? Well, wee!Sam doesn't really require an explanation, I mean it's wee!Sam who has this old hot puppy dog eyed Sammy look down to perfection already ♥
Missouri embodies this lovely mix of kick ass woman and mother figure and the Nerds are just so falsely geeky it makes me want to move in their trailer^^.
Ellen and Ash might be added to spice up the mix soon.

The spn_fridayfive Week 3:

1. What other urban legends would you like to see on the show?

I'm not picky. Everything that gives me goose bumps is fine. I'd be thrilled, though if they dabbed into something along the lines of the Mothmen, golems or haunted places and their nastily crafty poltergeists.

2. What other roles would you like to see Jensen or Jared play?

Right now, I can only picture them as the broken, angsting, snarky, kick-as bros Sam and Dean Winchester. But, since I have a thing for bad guys, I'd love to see them playing the villains in a good thriller or something. Come on guys, let's show us your dark sides!

3. The dreaded question: what do you think of Ellen, Jo, and Ash?

Ellen rocks. Tough on the outside, she is treated with respect by the other hunters. She obviously is very observant and has been reading everyone around here like an open book. In a way she's exactly that kind of person the boys need once in a while. No pretences, no lying around her and taking the events of the recent episode into account, she seems to be a lot more involved with THE demon than she’s letting on.

Jo, well, doesn't fit in the equation yet. Of the big scheme of things, that is. Let's see if they'll give her a function in the next episode and I might be able to give a more valuable opinion on her character then. Throughout Simon Said I got the impression that she knows surprisingly much about the fire and the patterns that aren't patterns anymore. (at times it seems, the writers just can’t come to an agreement which makes adjustments to the family myths necessary o_O) Anyway, this implies something I'm not sure I'd like to see turn out that way on the show.

Much love for Dr Badass. Ash is cute in this wickedly cracked up kind of way. He represents this fine line between genius and madness. I mean he likes to sip on other people's beer bottles and possesses the ability to full on macguyver a laptop into a demon-radar in about 52 hours. Yeah, I like him, he can stay.

4. How many seasons do you think this show could last?

They should end it with a loud bang when the show is at its very best. Whenever that might be I have no idea. I would hate for it to jump over the shark and be cut due to decreasing ratings. Kripke, however, mentioned he knows how the story will end. Now, I have to trust them to know when that moment arrives.

5. The Demon killed all the special children's mothers when they were six months old. Why do you think he killed Jessica? How did she 'get in the way'? Do you think the demon has killed some of other children's girlfriends/boyfriends?

For we know from Simon Said that the six months rule doesn't apply, Jessica's death makes a lot more sense in the way that she won't screw up our theory anymore. Personally, I'd go with Sam and argue that it was the idea of breaking him. Driving him over the edge and triggering whatever lies hidden underneath. And let's be honest, who knows who or what Sam would be now if Dean hadn't been at his side.
As John said, they’re all going to have to play their parts.

Also, anyone have any Sam-centered fanfic recs?! Gen, slash, Wincest is all fine as long as the fic does have a plot too and/or a fair share of characterization. Angsty and horror stuff preferred. Help out a fellow fangirl, pretty please :)

Haha, my username contains 'geek' so, I figured it was time for a post to justify that ;)

*evil smirk* I solemny swear that I am up to no good^^

Damn, I read way too much pr0n this week.

Simon Said was cool though there were some moments I thought Sam and Dean were OOC. Like Dean singing this love song in front of Sam. NO WAY! I mean, Sam has leverage now, doesn't he?

I'm not thrilled about next weeks preview so far.

Awww, how were the past days for you? What did you do?

i'm trying tutorials now and i'm working on a fic so i guess it's good. i still took the caps but i don't know.

Hehe, I was just thinking that as sweet as Dean is singing, this somehow felt not right, you know? So out of character when he's not screaming along a good old rock song LOL

What do my eyes have to read? You're not planning on making icons? *is crushed* you hopefully meant for that episode, right? I really like your icons!! But well, they also take so much time to make :/

I'm thrilled to read you're working on a fic. Kink or something else? *go Lis go* *swings pompon*

*spins on swivel chair* The icon is great, isn't it^^

I'm so glad to hear that there'll be icons. The important part is that you yourself have fun doing them.

Of course, email them over the pond, hun! Yay.

Ok, so I didn't read a thing you just wrote, but hey! It won't take much for me to start watching season 2!! I'm currently downloading the last episode of season 1, and I already have ep 1 and 2 of season 2 to squee over! Isn't that great?? *is excited*

I can't wait to see the last episode of the first season though! They were so mean with the 'to be continued' at the end of Salvation!! *pouts*

So anyway hunny, how's things?? Was missing you a lot these days! Actually, I was about to post something in my LJ asking for you (and yeah, I do realize that while I'm asking where were you, I haven't updated my LJ in quite a while too). I'm glad to know you're ok, though!!

*hugs tight*

LMAO, that's great news. Devil's Trap is one of the best episodes of the show so far. Rich of creepiness and characters. Make sure you've salted your doors and windows before watching ^^
I bet you'll watch 2x01 directly afterwards, because if you thought that TBC in Salvation was evil, you'll be throwing the nearest cushion at your TV at the end of season 1 LOL

Thanks for asking, sweetie. I'm busy with uni a lot at the moment, so updates might be scarce from now on :/ Hope you're doing great, too and are enjoying life. Are you planning anything like fanfic, arts or other stuff at the moment.

I think agree with everything you said, although the scare? Really? I was hardly ever scared in season one and I was watching alone, in a room without windows in the dark on a movie screen! I gotta say, I'm mainly watching for the brothers and the pretty and the angst. But that's just me :-)

Good luck with your studies. I've never been to university, so I can't compare, but I know how hard studying can be *glares at CAE books* Hang in there!

What's up with LJ eating my comments an awfully lot of times lately *shakes fist*

Tell me you have your own movie screen and a comfy sofa in your basement and I'll move in with you ;) That must be way cool. As for the scare, after watching numerous repeats, none of the episodes scare me anymore. But the Pilot, Bloody Mary, Home, Asylum and Provenance did make me check my closet the first time around. Well, I watch for the plot o_O or so I try ;D Ah, okay I’m a wuss.

And thank you, I like to wrestle with books and profs and fellow students =] Hehe, CAE as in the computer stuff or the advanced English thing? LOL, I hate abbreviations. Either way, good luck for you too :)

It's behaving strange today, I got funny styles a few times already, Times New Roman is obviously "in" again :-)

It's actually in the attic. But yes, we do :-) We're film freaks... It is very cool, esp. for shows which are not as cut (16/9 or worse) as movies, so it's Dean full screen over 2x3 m :-)

I don't think I could study again. I was so full of school after I got my uhm... Fähigkeitsausweis als Kaufmännische Angestellt mit Berufsmaturität that I stopped taking any courses at all. I always fall asleep anyway, hee. God, I'm old! CAE as in Advanced English, yes. And thanks!

Same here, and even coffee turned out to be as helpful as a pillow when it comes to that. And your old? Yeah, right ._o
Ah, that's cool. When will you take the test? Would you give us a small report about how it went and such afterwards. I'm really curious about the process.
valkrys: SPN Dean skills textvalkrys on October 28th, 2006 04:53 pm (UTC)
LOL! Now you can stop wondering why I am obsessed with the pretty :-)

Coffee makes me giddy and nervous, I'm drinking tea, most of the time. See! I'm old! *laughs*

The exam is in December and I'm really behind studying, but hell! I don't think it should be that bigga problem. My husband is doing the FCE one day prior, so I'm teaching and studying simultaneously, hee.

Sure, I can tell you how it went and how the process looked, I'm guessing it will be pretty similar as the FCE one was.

That's awesome ;) and I'd appreciate a small report since I don't have either certificate and it'd be nice to know how they work. Oh, and Good Luck tomorrow with your job interview *hugs*

I totally agree with the idea of Jen and Jared playing bad boys! I was thinking the same thing when I first read the question, I'd love to see their bad sides.

And about Jo, Hellen and Ash I cant say much since I *sobs* havent been able to watch the last 2 episodes *burst into tears* my computer is too slow downloading them and with so many thigs to do for school and my parents not letting me use my computer *sighs* its sad, I know =(
