Supernatural 5x19
Supernatural at its best.

  • Lucy, I'm home.
Seems like every time Richard Speight, Jr. makes a guest appearance, the fun doubles. Don't think I mentioned this before but kudos to the casting, that guy has like this perfect twinkle and a dash of mischief in his eyes that is perfect for the role. And the writers did take time to show character development here, too. Gabriel really manned up and made his own decisions. He makes quite the handsome rebel, too, yes?

  • No one makes us do anything.
Loved the parallels between the angels' and the Winchester's families mirrored in the final fight. Brother against brother. Hope the outcome isn't any indication how it'll end for Sam and Dean, though. They also make it really hard not to feel a spark of sympathy for Lucifer as he's clearly pained by having to kill his brother. Poor misguided fool.

  • Don't mock my world turtle!
Nice effort to include other religions and not keep it all exclusively Christian. Kind of sad, though, that all other Gods were so easy to kill whereas you need special paraphernalia to kill an archangel? Huh.

  • This episode also featured another proof of Dean's outstanding parking skills. Haha.

  • I'm young at heart.
Beside the entertaining plot and fun guest star, I really enjoyed seeing Sam and Dean back to being brothers. There was a lot of the good old bantering, the whiny little brother and the caring, highly motivated (welcome back, Dean. I missed you.) big brother. And hey, if you didn't notice that, they whipped out more of the well-proven patterns and DEAN GOT THROWN INTO STUFF AND SAM GOT CHOKED. Just the way I like it.

  • You are dinner.
Is there a vegetarian God out there? Cause their choice of poison (men courses, ugh) was kind of gross. But then, Pestilence irked me even more. Seeing all that flying snot made me sort of queasy. Eww. Although it does pose some potential h/c story lines for our boys, yes? Why yes, I do have my kinks.

I loved the Lucy line. I'm really going to miss Gabriel. ♥

Same here. Why do they have to kill off the characters that only recently underwent such a big development? Would have surely been interesting to see Gabriel later on in this fight on the people's side. *sad face*

I love, love, love Gabe and I was so sad he's gone now. I knew he wasn't dead the first time, because we didn't get to see the black wings, but no such luck now. *sniffle* But yeah, Lucifer also gained a bit more character. You could also clearly see him burn through his vessel. I guess he would let go of Sam if it was possible for him to just slip into anyone else. But it's survival for him.

But yes, it was sad that Lucifer could just go and slaughter all the others gods by just simply killing them with his bare hands. What happened to wooden sticks for pagan gods? And mind you, Lucifer is just an archangel, he's not even on God level. Then again, the other gods lost power when people stopped believing in them, so maybe that's why they're easy to slaughter.

I think what I loved most about the ep is that even though they killed off such a major character, they gave him an awesome farewell with that video.

When I saw pestilence, I was reminded of that picture Misha took of his nose all disgusting. I think he had make-up do it when they were working on that ep (or next one). It looked very much the same.

Why yes, Nick's body looked worse for wear. Obviously, evil hosts are bad for skin and complexion.

the other gods lost power when people stopped believing in them
An interesting thought. It goes well with what's been said in A very Supernatural Xmas but it still bugs me that the other Gods' powers seemed to have no effect whatsoever on Lucifer. I mean, the guy was short-handed it being, what, 6 against 1? That's a lot. But then gwaevalarin also mentioned in her journal that we don't really know if Lucifer really killed them or just destroyed their hosts. I really like that interpretation and it would also mean they were all in for a reappearance ^-^

Haha, indeed. That Casa Erotica video was made of awesome. He's really kept his sense of humor even in his farewell.

I seem to not know what Misha picture you're talking about. Have I lacked in keeping up with his tweets once again. Shame on me. Do you have linkage by chance?

Yes, at first I wanted to say they went with American Gods by Neil Gaiman here, but then I remembered the Christmas ep and they already had it there. And the Paris Hilton ep. That creature was also complaining.

Yeah, I mean, I get it with the Norse Gods, nobody believes in them anymore, but I dunno so much about Kali. Then again, she survived. ;) That's an interesing theory though. And I like it. Especially since the bodies just dropped without any magical poof or leaving odd shadows in forms on elephants. ;)

It was the pic we saw in the States. But let me brave finding it for you again... http://twitpic.com/19w38c ... Okay, no, Misha still looks worse and more disgusting.

LOL What you said.

Eww, thanks for the link. I do remember seeing this before now but I had successfully repressed knowledge of it since just this moment. Haha. Hmm, still, maybe they all get sick and we get a massive h/c party. I'd like that.

Haha, yeah. All except for Sammy, who's immune and then has to care for a whiny Dean and a confused Castiel, but yelling at him for different kinds of food. (Cas wants burgers, Dean wants pie, neither of them will accept the chicken soup he got for them.) And then, end of the ep, Sam will catch the normal flu and the newly recovered Dean and Cas will leave him alone and go drinking instead. ;)

Dear writers, please make it so. Haha. I would have the time of my life with that kind of scenario. With guest appearance of a cranky Bobby cussing from under his beard.

I'm not sure how I felt about Pestilence. It was so... over the top. :/

Haha yes. When he smeared that slime all over the rack. I mean, what illness were they portraying with that? *scratches head* Anyway, it was gross.
